Rathlin Island

2024/25 has seen exciting progress in the ongoing development of Rural Housing Association’s latest housing scheme on Rathlin Island, which will deliver 10 new social homes to the island community.

The project represents a significant investment in sustaining and growing Rathlin’s population, providing high-quality, energy-efficient homes for local people. The scheme was brought forward following a Rural Needs Test, highlighting the Association’s commitment to addressing housing challenges in rural and remote areas.

Lowry Construction has been appointed as the main contractor for the development, bringing valuable experience in delivering projects within rural and island contexts. The homes have been designed by architects Studio Rogers, whose design approach reflects both the island’s unique character and the need for sustainable, modern living standards.

Once complete, the development will offer much-needed new homes for families and individuals, supporting the long-term viability of island life and reinforcing Rural Housing Association’s mission to provide quality homes in some of Northern Ireland’s most rural settings.
