On Friday 12th September Rural Housing were thrilled to welcome Minister for Communities Gordon Lyons MLA, Housing Executive Chair Nicole Lappin, and Deputy Mayor Alderman Richard Stewart to St Mary’s Primary School, Cushendall for a truly memorable celebration.
The event marked the naming of our brand-new “Housing for All” scheme at Kilandore Brae. After a schools competition to name the scheme, pupils from St Mary’s PS & Nursery Unit, Cushendall and Glenann PS chose the name “Lir View”, inspired by the magical Celtic legend The Children of Lir.
Minister Lyons presented prizes to the winning pupils (lots of proud smiles all round!) before everyone headed over to the Kilandore Brae site for some official photographs.
The Lir View scheme has been designed by Studio Rogers Architects and is being built by Lowry Construction Ltd. It’s being delivered by Rural Housing Association with support from the Department for Communities NI (DfC), the Housing Executive, and private finance from Danske Bank UK.
This development is about more than just bricks and mortarit’s about creating high-quality homes and strengthening our rural communities.
A huge thank you to St Mary’s Primary School for their warm welcome and for helping us celebrate the start of something special at Lir View!
