The Big Lunch Comes to Old Mill Court

The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual big date to celebrate and give thanks to our neighbours and communities. Started in 2009, it’s an idea from the Eden Project that each year brings 6 million people together, made possible by The National Lottery and supported by new headline sponsors Iceland Foods.

Each year the Big lunch provides the opportunity for people to meet, chat and have fun in their neighbourhoods but this year, there are even more reasons than ever to get together. June also marks the Month of Community, offering opportunities to share friendship and fun, and make positive local connections where you live.

To celebrate the Big Lunch this year we partnered with Sion Mills Community Forum to host a socially distanced event in our Old Mill Court Housing for All scheme.  This provided tenants with an opportunity to reconnect after lockdown, have a catch-up with their neighbours and enjoy some food and free ice-cream from the safety of their doorsteps!  This year we were joined by In Your Space Community Circus who provided some interactive entertainment that tenants could enjoy over lunch.
