5 Housing Associations agree £3M Maintenance Contract



The joint enterprise has been named “HA5” and follows the housing providers’ decision to leverage better value through a combined contract. HA5 includes the following Housing Associations Rural Housing Association – based in Omagh and NB Housing, St Matthews Housing Association, Grove Housing Association and Ark Housing Association – all based in Belfast. Between them the 5 Housing Associations manage over 2000 properties across Northern Ireland. 
 
 
The successful Contractor is – JMC Mechanical and Construction Ltd - based in Craigavon. The contract will see JMC provide a responsive maintenance service covering all building, mechanical and electrical works.  A social clause in the contract will also create a range of apprenticeships, training and work experience opportunities.
 
 
On behalf of the HA5 partnership, Stephen Fisher, Chief Executive of Rural Housing Association commented: “Customer Service is at the heart of what we do as Housing Associations and this new contract will help ensure an efficient and effective maintenance service will be provided to all our tenants. As well as providing much needed jobs in the construction industry the contract will also have a benefit to the wider community with the Social Clauses for apprenticeships and training opportunities that we have negotiated into it.”
 
 
James McCully, Managing Director of JMC said: “We are all very pleased to have been awarded this contract for HA5 Group. As well as helping to ensure our company’s long term stability, it will give us the opportunity to support local suppliers and local businesses and help tackle national problems such as youth unemployment. We believe regeneration starts at home and this contract will give us the opportunity to help regenerate local communities. We provide local jobs, use local suppliers, support local social enterprises and fund apprenticeship and trainee places for local people.
